If you want to switch your home or your commercial space to a waste oil heating system, here are some of the things you need to know:

Type of Oil Used

You can use either synthetic or petroleum-based oil for heating. This refers to any used oil that can no longer be re-used for whatever purpose it was initially intended for.

You can also use any type of oil such as transmission fluid, motor oil, fuel oil, or hydraulic oil. Make sure to consult the manual for the used oil heater to know what types of oils are available to use.

Eco-friendly Option

When oil becomes unusable, it can oftentimes be thrown away back into the environment. This becomes a hazardous material to animals and other types of wildlife. Instead of throwing them away, you can use the waste oil to power the heating system in your home or commercial property.

This occurs in places such as a warehouse or other types of the facility. The other eco-friendly option available is to donate them to an off-site oil deposit facility. Thus, it is responsible for recycling or safe burning.

Innovative Process

The used oil is emptied into a tank on the burner of the heating system. Once the tank is filled with waste oil, the electric motor is turned on and a fan begins to operate. The fan is responsible for pulling air into a blast tube. The waste oil is then pumped through a filter and the filtered oil is put into a burner.

The burner sets the right temperature on the oil and transformed into a mist that is introduced into a blast tube. This allows warm air to be exchanged and expelled into the room. Any leftover gas is released via a vent and into the chimney.

Legality

The Environmental Protection Agency is strict in imposing what types of used oils can be used for this heating system. Make sure to follow them closely to ensure that no harmful gases are released into the air in the process.
